ASX Today: rise & shine – Dow record high as second-day gains in US market

Here is today’s morning wrap up:

US Exchange

On Monday, the stock market reached new highs. Investors eagerly anticipate the start of earnings season. On Tuesday, Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan Chase disclose earnings, as well as inflation statistics. Financials increased by 1.0 percent, while real estate increased by 0.9 percent.

The Dow Jones moved higher Monday with a +0.36% move or +126.020 points. The S&P 500 also, moving +0.35% or +15.080 points. Based on technology, the Nasdaq followed overnight, closing with a +0.21% gain or +31.321 points.

US Treasury

It rained on Monday (yields higher). The US Treasury sold $58 billion in 3-year notes at a rate of 0.0426 percent, which were in high demand (previous 0.0325 percent ). In addition, the US Treasury sold US$38 billion of 10-year notes at a high yield of 1.371 percent (formerly 1.497 percent), which were in considerable demand. The yield on the 10-year US Treasury note increased by one basis point to 1.37 percent. In addition, US 2-year rates increased by one basis point to 0.23 percent.

ASX Today

This morning, the Australian stock market is projected to start Tuesday higher. The ASX 200 is predicted to open the day 20 points or 0.28 percent higher today, according to the latest SPI futures.

Following a positive start from the US market, the S&P/ASX 200 has finished higher to start the trading week. The ASX index rose 0.83 per cent today or 60.20 points and closing to a price of 7,333.50. The materials sector outperformed other sectors, as miners helped push the market higher. Mineral Resources Limited (ASX.MIN) closing today, gaining 4.21% highest in the materials sector today, Bhp Group Limited (ASX.BHP) and Fortescue Metals Group Ltd (ASX.FMG) all surged 3.17% and 3.31% respectively.
